RISE
ABOVE FEAR (Story of my fear)
It
was my first year of law when I was totally unaware of thousands thing which an
average student has to aware of but unfortunately to say I was not that
brilliant in studies or in anything else. 90% population of my first year law
college was from law families or backgrounds and I was not lucky enough as my
entire family was in railways or business. Yet, I was not weak enough to give
up so easily; without even giving a fair trial to myself.
As
I mentioned earlier I was in first year of law and being a fresher we all had
to participate in fresher’s Moot Court Competition but being an average student
I always had a fear of being a farce before my classmates. This was not a time
to think so much it was just preparation which all could help me to win that
moot court competition. My topic was “Validity of Euthanasia as per the Indian laws”
and the same topic was given to other classmates as well. The most interesting part of that topic was Aruna
Shanbaug’s case which was a very well known case in the history of mercy
killing i.e. euthanasia. We had given a hypothetical situation of her health
status and we had to argue on related laws of mercy killing in other parts of
the world.

Five
days in advance I started my moot court preparations and my college canteen was
my favorite destination where I could read cases and existing mercy killing laws
in different parts of the world. Some of my classmates also used to join me in
order to prepare arguments and legal research. The most memorable part of that preparation
was “mountain dew” and “coke” which we used to had with chicken schezwan fried
rice while doing moot court preparations. Whenever I tell to my friends that “I
am scared of this moot court competition” their teasing point was always “Monu,
Darr ke Age Jeet hai” and that single dialogue used to help us a lot to have a
big smile on our face.
At
last moot court competition day came and my name called out by court officer
and I had to present my memorial and arguments but my opponent was one of the
smartest batch mate; the moment I saw her I was surprised and lost all my hopes
but somewhere I gathered all my confidence and presented my case with full
confidence and argued before the judge as if I do not fear at all and my this
confidence actually impressed him a lot and I stood in the list of top 5 best
performance list. Indeed it was an amazing time of my life when I got my
confidence back and today I do not fear to talk to High Court Judges too.

After
passing of time I got an opportunity where I interacted with vice-chancellor
and pro-vice-chancellor of MU as well. My life was/is full of challenges but in
the end I learnt how I should deal with it during different situations and today
after experiencing so many challenges I really can say –
“Darr Ke Aage Jeet Hai”
